…Says no dispute over boundaries
The Oluwo of Ijemo land and Aro of Egbaland, Chief Oluyinka Kufile, has declared support for harmonious coexistence between Ijemo and Ibara, stating that no boundary misunderstanding should cause separation between the two ancient communities.
He facilitated the peaceful resolution of a long-standing boundary misunderstanding between the Jemo and Ibara communities in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Speaking during the 2025 Ibara Day Celebration on Saturday, Chief Kufile explained that both communities have now reached a consensus on a clear understanding of their respective boundaries.
The Oluwo noted that the location being used for the celebration is a neutral, open environment belonging to a school, and therefore accessible to both communities.
He expressed satisfaction that the relationship between Ijemo and Ibara, which dates back to the 19th century, has been restored.
According to him ” The dispute between Ijemo and Ibara has been resolved. We know our boundaries, and they know theirs. So far, so good”
“We have good relationships with each other, but some people want to create disputes between us, but we will not allow that”.
In his address, the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jecob Omolade, commended the good people of Ibara for their unwavering support and commitment towards the success of Ibara Day.
He urged support for the actualisation of the Ibara Ultra-modern Palace and town hall, noting that the current one still needed to be expanded.
“We will do everything and you will be surprised, the town hall of Ibara that I want to build, we all shall witness it”
“And if you observe you will see that we have renovated our palace, yes we want more support from our citizens, because I’m not satisfied with the current Palace, we want a conducive and big Palace”
” All Ibara citizens shall prosper in anything good they are doing”.
“By God’s grace, we shall not lack money”
Meanwhile, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo also affirmed unity amongst the monarchs in Egbaland, stating that he had known the Olubara for a very long time.
He also declared support for the Ibara Day Celebration.
