The Community Health Practioners Registration Board of Nigeria has appealed to the Federal government to leverage technology for community health practitioners to increase access to health care and reduce maternal and child mortality rate.
During a traning for primary health care educators at Mitros residence, Abeokuta, Ogun state on Thursday, the event started on Wednesday 28th to 30th Friday, May 2025.
The board states that investing in digital solution for the practioners will strengten Nigeria’s health care system, promote a healthier future for the citizens and cotribute to achieving global health goals.

Primary health care educators bear the torch that lights the path to improved community health outcomes and a resilient primary health care (PHC) system
Going by the memory lane, last year we unveiled the robust reviewed national standing orders for community health practitioners, in collaboration with the national primary health care development agency and with support from health workforce management (HWM) under the USAID funding, validated by the federal ministry of health
The President National Association of community health practitioners , Comrade Kabiru Yahya Ahmed, noted that the government must wake up to the reality of the digital era to see the urgent need to invest in technigy for improved primary healthcare system.
He emphasised the need for the federal governemt to also equiped all the federal government own primary health centres across the country for effective healthcare delivery.
Also, the Sounth/West Zonal Technical Officer for the board, Abayomi Great said though, the President Tinubu’s administration is working hard in the health sector, there is need for the fedrall government to create an enabling enviroment for primary health practioners to thrive.
The Chairman of the Association of Primary Health Care Tutors Welfare, Ogun State Zone, Alhaji Nusiru Olalekan, described the event as an annual gathering of primary healthcare tutors in South West Nigeria.
The purpose is to discuss ways to move colleges of health forward, address student challenges, and find solutions to problems affecting various colleges and institutes. This platform allows stakeholders to collaborate and shape the future of primary healthcare education in the region
