The Olota of Ota, Oba Prof. Abdul Kabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, has commended the crucial role surveyors play in community development.
He made this remark during the celebration of Global Surveyors Day on March 21, 2025, at his palace in Ota, Ogun State.
Oba Obalanlege expressed his appreciation for the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Ogun State branch, who visited his palace to commemorate the day.
He specifically thanked Surveyor Liadi, Surveyor Adekoya, and Aare Atuluse of Aworiland, Surveyor Segun Osifeso, for their contributions to the community.
The monarch emphasized the importance of surveyors in creating beautiful landscapes, communities, and societies.
He cited examples from the United States and the United Kingdom, highlighting the significance of surveyors in shaping the world. Oba Obalanlege also discussed his plans for regeneration in Ota, acknowledging the vital role surveyors will play in the process.
However, the monarch also touched on the issue of trust among surveyors, stressing the need for the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors to address this problem.
He shared personal experiences of handling cases involving surveyors, emphasizing the importance of integrity in the profession.
In his address, Aare Atuluse of Aworiland, Surv. DR. Segun Osifeso, described the celebration as a significant event that brings people together.
He noted that this was the first time Global Surveyors Day was being celebrated in Ota, usually observed in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Surv. Abiodun Olufemi Liadi FNIS Mgeoson, Chairman Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Ogun State branch, thanked the Olota of Ota and the people of Awori land for hosting the event.
He explained that the purpose of Global Surveyors Day was to raise awareness about the importance of surveyors in society.
Surv. Kayode Samuel Adekoya FNIS,Fgeoson chairman Association of Private Practicing Surveyors Ogun State Branch (APPSN), emphasized the need for registered surveyors to ensure accountability and trustworthiness.
He cautioned against patronizingunregistered surveyors, highlighting the risks involved.
The celebration concluded with a call to action, urging residents to engage registered surveyors when acquiring landed property to avoid scams and ensure proper documentation.
