A devastating incident occurred in the Ori-Osoko Community, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on Tuesday, when 58-year-old Adeleye Alani took his own life by jumping into a well.
According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the incident happened in the late hours of the day.
The police were informed about the incident by the brother of the deceased, who reported that the wife of the deceased had been unable to locate her husband’s whereabouts earlier that day.
After a search, the deceased’s slippers were found near the well in their compound, raising suspicions. The wife’s worst fears were confirmed when she discovered that her husband had indeed jumped into the well.
The Ogun State Police Command has expressed its condolences to the bereaved family and urged residents of the state to seek support during difficult situations.
Police officers were deployed to the scene, and the body of the deceased was recovered and deposited at a morgue for further investigation.
