The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has issued a statement clarifying its position on claims of difficulties in loading refined petroleum products by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN). According to the refinery, it has not received any payments from IPMAN for the purchase of refined petroleum products.
In a press release, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, emphasized that Dangote Refinery currently has no formal business relationship with IPMAN. Chiejina stated that discussions are ongoing between the two parties but no agreement has been reached.
The refinery denied responsibility for any difficulties IPMAN members may be experiencing in loading refined products. “We cannot be held responsible for any payments made to other entities,” the statement read.
Dangote Refinery clarified that payments made by IPMAN were done through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), not the refinery. Additionally, NNPCL has not authorized the release of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN.
The refinery assured that it can meet the nation’s demand for all petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. With a capacity to load 2,900 trucks per day, Dangote Refinery also evacuates petroleum products by sea.
Dangote Refinery encouraged IPMAN to register directly and make payments to access petroleum products. “We have more than enough petroleum products to satisfy the needs of their members,” the statement read.
The refinery cautioned stakeholders against making unfounded statements, emphasizing the need for collaboration and a unified approach. This, it said, is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic re-engineering efforts.
In conclusion, Dangote Refinery reiterated its commitment to meeting Nigeria’s petroleum needs while promoting a transparent and patriotic business environment.
