Uncertainty has surrounded the funds of customers of PXES in Adamawa State following reported difficulties with withdrawals and the closure of the investment outfit’s Yola office.
The development reportedly triggered unrest on Friday, as some customers who were unable to access their funds allegedly vandalised the office and removed furniture and other equipment.
PXES, an acronym for Professionalism Excellence Evolution Solution, operates a savings scheme in which customers reportedly invest between N21,600 and more than N3 million, depending on their selected category, in return for daily earnings.
The reported withdrawal difficulties have raised concerns among patrons, particularly those who expected to access their weekly earnings on Friday.
A source familiar with the scheme said Friday is usually the withdrawal day for customers on Levels 1 and 2, making the inability to access funds particularly concerning.
Videos circulating on social media showed crowds gathered around the PXES office in Yola amid the reported tension.
The office remained locked on Saturday, a development said to be unusual because the facility reportedly normally opens to customers even on Sundays.
The alleged vandalism and withdrawal problems had not been officially confirmed by the Adamawa State Police Command as of the time of filing the report.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said he was yet to receive an official report from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.
With the office remaining closed, questions remain over the reported withdrawal difficulties, the status of customers’ funds and the circumstances surrounding the disruption at the Yola branch.
