The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel, comprising 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals, as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, leadership and road safety operations across Nigeria.
The Corps said the promotion was based on merit, dedication, competence, discipline and years of service, noting that the beneficiaries had distinguished themselves in the performance of their duties.
In a statement shared on its X page on Friday, the Corps Public Education Officer at the FRSC National Headquarters, Abuja, Osondu Ohaeri, said senior officers and heads of various departments and special units had been directed to decorate the newly promoted personnel between Wednesday, August 26 and Friday, August 28, 2026.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the promotion as both a reward for hard work and a call to greater responsibility. He urged the beneficiaries to justify the confidence placed in them through improved professionalism and service delivery.
Mohammed said the new ranks must reflect higher standards of accountability, leadership, discipline and commitment, stressing that the effectiveness of the FRSC depended largely on the quality and dedication of its personnel.
He further urged the newly promoted officers and marshals to maintain discipline, treat members of the public with dignity and protect the integrity of the Corps in the discharge of their duties.
The Corps Marshal also reminded the beneficiaries that their promotion came with increased expectations from the FRSC, the Federal Government and Nigerians, urging them to “do more, lead better and serve with greater distinction.”
The development comes as the FRSC continues to strengthen its operations through technology, enforcement and public enlightenment campaigns aimed at reducing road crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations nationwide.
The Corps said a motivated and professionally developed workforce remained essential to achieving its road safety objectives, while congratulating the newly promoted personnel and urging them to approach their new responsibilities with renewed commitment.
