The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned a 108-unit housing estate in Ogun State as part of efforts to expand access to decent and affordable accommodation.
The Muhammadu Buhari Estate, located along the Oke-Mosan-Kobape Express Road, Abeokuta, represents the first phase of the state government’s housing initiative targeting residents across different income categories.
Speaking during the commissioning on Tuesday, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun said the project was designed to address the growing demand for housing and improve the standard of living of residents.
Abiodun said his administration would sustain its investment in the housing sector, assuring residents that more affordable housing units would be provided before the end of his administration.
The Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, said the completion of the first phase reflected the government’s determination to reduce the state’s housing deficit.
According to him, the estate is intended to cater to the housing needs of low-, medium- and high-income earners while promoting sustainable housing development.
Omoniyi expressed appreciation to the First Lady for her support towards the successful completion of the project, adding that the Ministry of Housing would continue to support initiatives aimed at increasing the availability of quality homes across Ogun State.
