The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a man, identified as Nuhu Dahiru, for allegedly impersonating its operatives and obtaining N3 million from unsuspecting members of the public under false pretences in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Dahiru was arrested by operatives of the EFCC Maiduguri Zonal Directorate at Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, following credible intelligence linking him to the alleged impersonation.
The commission said the suspect had allegedly been parading himself as an EFCC officer and using the false identity to defraud members of the public.
According to the EFCC, operatives recovered N3 million from the suspect at the point of his arrest.
The commission said investigations into the case were ongoing, adding that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
