The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a self-acclaimed spiritualist, Odigie Moses, for allegedly blackmailing an Indian woman with a nude video and extorting $1,100 from her.
Moses was arrested in Ekpoma, Edo State, following allegations that he exploited the victim’s search for spiritual intervention to obtain and secretly record her nude video.
According to the EFCC, the suspect allegedly presented himself on Zelle as a spiritualist with healing powers and was contacted by the woman over some life-threatening challenges for which she sought spiritual assistance.
The commission said Moses subsequently deceived the woman into participating in a naked spiritual bath, which he allegedly recorded without her consent.
He was then said to have threatened to release the video publicly unless she paid money, prompting the victim to transfer a total of $1,100 to him in an attempt to prevent the video from being published.
The EFCC said investigations into the case are ongoing, adding that Moses would be charged to court upon their conclusion.
