The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has dismissed reports claiming he resigned from office, warning that legal action will be taken against those responsible for spreading the false information.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Musa described the reports as baseless and said he had no intention of stepping down.
The minister said he was surprised by the rumour, suggesting it may have been circulated by individuals unhappy with the progress being recorded in the country’s security sector.
According to him, security has continued to improve, and such misinformation is aimed at creating a false impression that the government is not making progress.
Musa stated that he had never discussed resignation with anyone and vowed to pursue legal action against whoever originated the claim once identified.
He also disclosed that he had just briefed President Tinubu on the nation’s security situation, adding that the President expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the security agencies.
The Defence Minister assured Nigerians that the government would sustain its campaign against terrorism and banditry, stressing that public cooperation has played a vital role in the recent security gains.
He thanked Nigerians for their continued support and maintained that the country’s security situation would continue to improve through collective efforts between citizens and security agencies.
