Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, who claims to be the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has expressed a lack of confidence in the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), insisting the agency will not indict President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Adeniyi argued that the Federal Government cannot objectively investigate itself, calling instead for an independent panel to handle the matter.
According to him, the Presidency had already cleared Gbajabiamila, making it unlikely that the ICPC would reach a different conclusion.
“Government can’t probe government. Are you telling me the ICPC would indict Chief Femi Gbajabiamila? It’s not possible,” he said.
While thanking President Bola Tinubu for setting up a panel to look into the crisis, Adeniyi maintained that only an independent investigation would inspire public confidence.
He is expected to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
