The Ogun State Police Command has assured residents and motorists that security has been reinforced along the Sagamu–Benin Expressway following a security incident around the J3 axis of the highway.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said police operatives responded immediately after receiving a distress report on the incident, triggering a coordinated security operation aimed at apprehending the fleeing suspects and restoring confidence among road users.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, directed the deployment of four units of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and other tactical teams to the affected area.
The Command disclosed that an intensive bush-combing operation is currently underway, with security personnel making significant operational progress in tracking the suspects, dominating the surrounding forests, and ensuring the safety of commuters and residents along the corridor.
The police emphasised that all necessary security measures have been activated to prevent further threats and maintain law and order in the area.
While urging members of the public to remain calm, the Command assured residents that there was no cause for alarm, stressing that security operatives remain on the ground to safeguard lives and property.
The statement reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting citizens and encouraged the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing operations.
