ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in collaboration with the Road Safety Officers’ Wives Association (ROSOWA), has intensified efforts to promote road safety awareness among motorists and other road users in the state.
The sensitization programme, held at Kuto Motor Park in Abeokuta on Saturday, was led by the Chairperson of ROSOWA, Ogun State Chapter, Mrs Morenikeji Ogunjobi, wife of the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.

Addressing motorists, commercial drivers, passengers and other road users during the exercise, Lady Ogunjobi stressed the need for strict compliance with traffic regulations and responsible road use.
She noted that many road traffic crashes could be prevented if road users adhered to established safety standards and exercised caution while on the roads.
The awareness campaign focused on major road safety concerns, including speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, use of mobile phones while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, and the importance of wearing seat belts.
Participants were also educated on the need for regular vehicle maintenance and strict observance of traffic signs and regulations.

Members of ROSOWA engaged road users through interactive discussions and public enlightenment sessions aimed at promoting safer road use practices. They urged motorists and other road users to embrace patience, discipline, tolerance and courtesy while using the roads.
Speaking during the programme, Lady Ogunjobi reaffirmed ROSOWA’s commitment to supporting the FRSC’s public enlightenment and advocacy campaigns aimed at reducing road crashes and saving lives.
Some participants commended the initiative, expressing appreciation to the FRSC and ROSOWA for taking the safety campaign directly to the motoring public. They also pledged to obey traffic regulations and promote road safety awareness within their communities.

The sensitization exercise was conducted without any incident and forms part of ongoing efforts by the FRSC Ogun State Sector Command to strengthen public awareness and create a safer motoring environment across the state.
The Corps called on all road users to remain law-abiding, safety-conscious and committed to making the roads safer for everyone.
