The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of eight suspects for armed robbery, house breaking, stealing, conspiracy, and conduct likely to cause breach of peace, following intelligence-driven operations across Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba, and Agbado.
In a press release issued by the Command, operatives said the coordinated actions were executed with speed, professionalism, and support from members of the public. The Command described the arrests as another significant breakthrough in its sustained effort to maintain safety and security across the state.
At Sango-Ota Division, police arrested Pelumi Akintande, 21; Mojeed Sanusi, 28; and Mubarak Lateef, 17, in connection with a reported armed robbery in Alasia Community. The suspects allegedly attacked a resident and forcefully took valuables.
Acting on prompt information from the public, operatives tracked and apprehended the suspects. A locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and one expended cartridge allegedly used in the operation were recovered.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang involved in the Alasia robbery. Police said the recovered firearm will be subjected to further forensic analysis.
In Owode-Egba, operatives arrested Damilare Makanjuola, 22, over alleged house breaking and stealing at Ofada. He was caught after reportedly scaling a fence and attempting to gain unlawful access into a shop.
Further investigation linked Makanjuola to other burglary incidents within Sun City Estate, Ofada. Items allegedly stolen include electrical appliances, cash above ₦100,000, and other personal valuables.
The recovered items have been secured as exhibits, and investigation continues to establish the full extent of the suspect’s involvement in the burglary cases.
The Command said the operations underscore its commitment to ensuring sustained peace and security across Ogun State, and urged residents to continue providing credible information to aid crime prevention.
