Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, has called on politicians and other stakeholders to prioritise peace and accept the outcome of the ongoing local government elections in good faith.
Mohammed made the appeal after casting his vote at Polling Unit 008, Bakin Dutse, located at Yelwan Duguri Model Primary School in Duguri District, Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The governor said he was encouraged by the smooth conduct of the voting process and the turnout of voters, particularly the large participation of women.
“I am really impressed by how smoothly the voting process went and how many people came out to vote,” he said.
Mohammed stressed that elections should not be approached as a do-or-die contest, urging political actors to place the peace and development of Bauchi State above political interests.
“Elections are not a do-or-die affair. Our topmost concern should always be ensuring lasting peace, safety, and overall progress in Bauchi State,” he said.
He said his administration remained committed to strengthening democracy at the grassroots and ensuring that all participants complied with relevant laws governing the electoral process.
The governor also commended election officials for their preparedness and praised voters for demonstrating discipline, maturity and a sense of civic responsibility during the exercise.
