The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pledged to safeguard every vote cast for its candidates in the 2027 general election, saying it is putting measures in place to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, made the declaration on Wednesday while addressing journalists during a sensitisation walk in Ilorin, Kwara State, organised to mobilise residents ahead of the 2027 elections.
Abdullahi said the party had resolved not to rely solely on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to protect its electoral mandate, stressing that elections should be secured through vigilance rather than trust alone.
According to him, the ADC reached the decision after reviewing its experience in the 2023 general election, which he said left the party disappointed despite its confidence in the electoral process.
While acknowledging that there are committed officials within INEC, Abdullahi maintained that the party would take proactive steps to defend its votes across the country.
He expressed confidence that the ADC would perform strongly in the 2027 polls, insisting that the party’s determination to protect its votes would be a decisive factor in the outcome of the election.
Although he declined to disclose the specific strategies the party intends to adopt, Abdullahi said the ADC had concluded plans to ensure that every legitimate vote cast for its candidates counts.
