The President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, days after her historic election as the association’s first elected female president.
Badejo-Okusanya was accompanied by senior lawyers and members of her campaign team during the visit.
Her meeting with the President followed her emergence as the 33rd President of the NBA after securing 12,317 votes, representing 47.18 per cent of the total votes cast in Saturday’s national election.
She defeated her closest rivals, Lateef Akangbe, SAN, who polled 7,934 votes, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, who secured 5,855 votes.
Following the election, President Tinubu congratulated Badejo-Okusanya on her landmark victory, describing it as a milestone for the legal profession and a triumph of merit, excellence and gender inclusion.
The visit marks one of Badejo-Okusanya’s first official engagements with the President since her emergence as the first elected woman to lead the NBA.
