Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called for the investigation of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, following the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly posed as the Director-General of the non-existent Peace Fund for Integrated and Comprehensive Peace Commission (PFIPC).
Reacting to Adeyemi’s arrest in a post on X on Tuesday, Sowore alleged that the development was part of a broader effort to conceal the truth surrounding an alleged N400 million bribery scandal.
According to him, the circumstances surrounding Adeyemi’s arrest and subsequent treatment suggest an attempt to suppress facts rather than ensure justice.
Sowore argued that if authorities are genuinely committed to uncovering the truth, Gbajabiamila should also be questioned and investigated over the allegations.
He further claimed that the individual allegedly accused of receiving the purported N400 million bribe on behalf of the Chief of Staff had died under suspicious circumstances, while the hotel where the alleged transaction reportedly took place had since been demolished.
The activist also accused the Federal Government of obstructing justice, alleging that the handling of the case raises serious concerns about transparency and accountability.
Adeyemi was arrested by the police in Osun State after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest over his failure to appear for arraignment.
He is expected to face charges bordering on forgery, fraud and impersonation after allegedly presenting himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC, an agency authorities say does not exist.
