The Ogun State Police Command has disrupted a suspected cult initiation procession in Isara-Remo and arrested 30 male suspects during a coordinated raid on June 16, 2026. Operatives also recovered four vehicles allegedly abandoned by fleeing members of the group.
The operation was carried out by the Violent Crime Response Unit in collaboration with detectives from the Isara Area Command and Isara Division. Police said the raid followed credible intelligence that hoodlums had gathered at an uncompleted building in Isara-Remo for unlawful assembly.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the suspects were caught during activities that included alcohol consumption, chanting, and initiation rites. The location was stormed after the VCRU Commander mobilized a joint team to the scene.
Those arrested include Muiz Olawale, Adeniji Akinwale, Ajayi Victor, Damilola Oluwasegun, Adewale Olayemi, Aminu Rahmon, Olodudu Ademola, Matthew Imoleayo, Adenle Habeb, and 21 others. Police said the full list of suspects has been documented for prosecution.
Items recovered at the scene include a jack knife, a local drum, a traditional rattle, and several bottles suspected to have been used for drinking during the gathering. The four vehicles found abandoned were also taken into custody as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism. He described the operation as proof of the Command’s intelligence-led policing strategy and its resolve to eliminate cultism across the state.
All 30 suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation. Police said they will be charged in court once investigations are concluded, while efforts continue to track other members who escaped during the raid.
CP Ojajuni warned that the Command will not tolerate cult-related violence or unlawful assemblies in any part of Ogun State. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious gatherings to security agencies without delay.
The police also called on members of the public to use the Command’s emergency and toll-free lines to share credible information. Authorities said community cooperation remains key to combating crime and keeping neighborhoods safe.
