The Police Service Commission has disowned a viral fake police recruitment shortlist currently circulating on social media, warning applicants not to fall victim to fraudsters spreading false information to exploit job seekers.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the PSC said no shortlist of candidates for medical examinations has been released. It stressed that the evaluation of the written examination is still ongoing and has not been concluded by the relevant assessment teams.
The Commission explained that successful candidates will be notified through official channels once the assessment process is complete. These channels include email, SMS alerts, and updates on the official recruitment portal managed by the Commission.
The PSC urged members of the public to disregard the fake list and remain vigilant against individuals seeking to exploit applicants. It cautioned that fraudsters often use counterfeit shortlists and forged documents to deceive unsuspecting job seekers and extort money.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to a transparent, credible, and merit-based recruitment process. It said the exercise is designed to ensure fairness, equal opportunity, and strict adherence to established guidelines for all qualified applicants.
Applicants were also reminded that the recruitment exercise is completely free of charge. The PSC stressed that no payment is required at any stage of the process, and candidates should not make payments to anyone claiming to facilitate their recruitment.
The Commission warned that anyone demanding money or favors in exchange for placement on a shortlist is acting fraudulently. It advised applicants to report such cases immediately to the appropriate authorities for investigation and prosecution.
The PSC said it will continue to provide updates through its official communication channels. It urged candidates to rely only on verified information from the Commission and to avoid sharing unverified materials on social media platforms.
With the assessment still underway, the Commission called for patience and caution from applicants. It assured candidates that due process will be followed, and only those who meet the required standards will be contacted officially for the next phase of the recruitment exercise.
