The Ogun State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has successfully conducted its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, producing candidates for key elective positions across the state.
The peaceful primaries, held on Friday were supervised by the Ogun State Primaries Election Committee led by Barrister Ogeh Jimmy.
At the end of the exercise, Barrister Lanre Balogun Abimbola emerged as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Similarly, Hon. Rotimi George Taylor secured the party’s senatorial ticket for Ogun Central Senatorial District, while Agbeniga Bashir Olayinka emerged as the House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
Moruf Olajide also clinched the State House of Assembly Constituency 1 ticket following the conclusion of the primaries.
Party leaders and supporters expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the exercise, describing it as a new dawn for the NDC in Ogun State.
They also expressed confidence in the ability of the party’s candidates to perform strongly in the forthcoming general elections, pledging to work together towards ensuring victory at the polls.
The party leadership reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and credible leadership as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections in Ogun State.
