Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has presented the official results of the All Progressives Congress primary election for Ogun East Senatorial District to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The governor met with the president at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday to formally submit the outcome of the exercise. He said the visit was to brief Tinubu on the conduct of the primary and to acknowledge the support of party stakeholders.
Abiodun described the successful conduct of the primary as evidence of cohesion within the ruling party. He said the process reflected “the unity, strength, and democratic spirit of our party” ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor also commended President Tinubu for his inclusive democratic policies, particularly the adoption of direct primaries. He said the approach allowed all APC members to exercise their franchise.
“I thanked the President and leader of our party for his inclusive democratic policies, which are reflected in his insistence on direct primaries,” Abiodun stated. He added that the system gave members “a sense of belonging and ownership of the party.”
Abiodun expressed gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters across Ogun East for their confidence in him. He said he remained committed to continued service and development in the state.
“As I continue on this journey of service to our people… I remain committed to supporting the continued developmental strides across Ogun State while ensuring peace, progress, inclusiveness, and greater opportunities for all,” he said.
The governor further appreciated what he described as the “leadership, support, encouragement, and solidarity” of party members. He noted their role in advancing a shared vision for Ogun State.
The presentation of the results to the president signals the formal closure of the primary process in Ogun East and sets the stage for the party’s preparations for the next general election.
