The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly Primary Election Committee has said it will not officially announce winners of the just concluded National Assembly primaries in Ogun State until all complaints and appeals about the results are properly reviewed.
Chairman of the committee, Shaibu Philips, made this known during a press conference held at the APC Secretariat in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Philips said the committee had received and collated results from different polling units across the state, but was still verifying them in line with party rules and electoral guidelines.
He explained that the committee would not rush to declare winners until all complaints from the primaries had been addressed.
According to him, the committee, alongside the party’s National Working Committee and state leaders, monitored the elections across the constituencies to ensure the process followed party rules and electoral laws.
He said the results were still being verified and that no winner would be officially declared until all appeals had been reviewed.
Philips also said the committee had already informed all those involved about its decision.
While announcing results gathered from the polling units, he named Dapo Abiodun, Salisu Afolabi Shuaib and Jimoh Ojugbele as winners in Ogun East, Ogun Central and Ogun West respectively.
However, he stressed that the announcements were only based on collated results and not final declarations, as the committee was still reviewing complaints and verifying the outcome of the exercise.
Philips added that a full report of the primaries would be submitted to the party leadership before any official announcement is made through the proper channels.
