The Rotary Club of Obantoko has commissioned three blocks of toilets and a borehole at St. Michael Nursery and Primary School as part of efforts to improve hygiene, sanitation and learning conditions for pupils and staff of the school.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the President of the Rotary Club of Obantoko, Rotarian Omotoke Ilesanmi, said the project would help improve cleanliness, promote good health, support effective learning and provide comfort and dignity for both pupils and teachers.
She explained that the intervention was carried out in line with the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self,” while appreciating the District Governor, Prince Henry Akinyele, for his leadership, encouragement and continuous support for humanitarian projects across the district.
In his remarks,the district governor, Rotarian Prince Henry Akinyele called on organisations, individuals and community groups to continue supporting developmental projects that would positively impact children and promote quality education in society.
The Head Teacher of the school, Mrs. Adebayo Sarah Adebimpe, expressed appreciation to the Rotary Club for the kind gesture, describing the project as a major relief for the school community. She noted that the new toilet facilities and borehole would help create a cleaner, safer and healthier learning environment for pupils and staff.
Also speaking at the event, the representative of the parents, Mrs. B. O. Sholanke, alongside the PTA Chairman, Mr. Jamiu Ayinde, and other parents and community leaders, commended the Rotary Club of Obantoko for its commitment to education and child welfare in the area. They stressed that access to clean water and proper sanitation remains essential in schools.
Pupils of the school also expressed joy over the projects and promised to make good use of the facilities.
The event featured the official ribbon-cutting ceremony and inspection of the newly completed projects.
