ABEOKUTA – Barely 24 hours before the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election, all 74 ward chairmen of Ogun Central Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu Omoyayi (FNCS) for a second term in the Senate.
The endorsement was made public on Sunday evening, 17th May 2026, during a press conference held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
Speaking on behalf of the ward chairmen, Alhaji Olayiwola Olaleye (aka Daris) said the decision followed extensive consultations and a careful assessment of Senator Omoyayi’s first-term performance, which he described as impactful in legislative engagement, empowerment initiatives, and grassroots representation.
“We believe a second term will enable him to consolidate on these achievements and deliver even greater benefits to our people,” Alhaji Olaleye stated.
Comrade Matthew Sopade, the State Chairman of all APC ward chairmen in Ogun State, who co-signed the address, reaffirmed the group’s collective resolve to back the senator.
The ward chairmen further disclosed that Senator Omoyayi is the consensus candidate endorsed by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, the apex leaders of Ogun Central Senatorial District, and party leaders across the district’s six local government areas: Ifo, Ewekoro, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Obafemi–Owode, and Odeda.
The press conference, held on the eve of the 18th May 2026 APC senatorial primary, ended with a call to all party faithful to rally behind Senator Omoyayi.
According to the chairmen, a returned Senator Omoyayi will continue to partner with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration and Senator Olalekan Solomon Adeola, the Ogun State governorship consensus candidate, in building a greater Ogun State.
Both Alhaji Olayiwola Olaleye and Comrade Matthew Sopade signed the address on behalf of the ward chairmen.
