The Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) has been inaugurated in Ogun State, pledging to mobilise massive grassroots support for the All Progressives Congress and the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi and President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Thursday during a press briefing held at NUJ Hall, Iwe-iroyin Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, the state capital, the State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, disclosed that the group was created to strengthen political mobilisation from polling units to ward and local government levels across the state.
“This movement is not ceremonial. It is a disciplined, organised and result-oriented structure designed to ensure that the collective will of the people is clearly expressed at the ballot box,” Kaka said.
He described YPM as a broad coalition of youths, professionals and political stakeholders, noting that membership was not restricted to card-carrying party members.
“We are not limiting ourselves to party members alone. We have brought many people on board to register for their Permanent Voter’s Cards, and we are confident that voter turnout in 2027 will surpass that of the last general election,” he added.
Kaka posited that the movement aligned fully with the national leadership of the APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as “a reform-driven leader laying the foundation for long-term national prosperity.”
He also commended the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, saying, “The governor’s infrastructural and economic policies have positioned Ogun State as a hub of industrial growth and fiscal discipline.”
Reaffirming the group’s support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Kaka pointed out that “Senator Adeola has the experience, capacity and grassroots connection required to take Ogun State to the next level, and we are fully committed to his emergence as governor.”
He also acknowledged the party leaders, including former governor Olusegun Osoba, for sustaining progressive politics in the state.
According to him, activities marking the inauguration include the deployment of campaign buses, mobilisation tours across communities and the recognition of loyal members of the movement.
“The people are ready, the structure is in place and victory is achievable,” Kaka said.
