President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, replacing the ministers of Finance and Housing in a move the Presidency says will strengthen economic delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
A memo dated April 22, 2026 from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, directed Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa to leave the Federal Executive Council.
Edun, until now Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, will hand over to Taiwo Oyedele. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry and now assumes the substantive role.
For Housing and Urban Development, Dangiwa is to hand over to the Minister of State pending Senate confirmation of Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, who has been named minister-designate.
The SGF directed that all handover processes be concluded on or before close of business on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians,” Akume said in the memo.
He added that the President approved the reshuffle under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
