A devastating airstrike on a market in Jilli village, Borno State, has left Borno State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri in urgent need of blood donations. The hospital has received 21 victims, including five females and 16 males, who sustained various injuries in the blast.
The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Shehu Muhammad, confirmed that the victims are being treated, but more blood is needed to save lives. “Everything needed for treatment is available, but we require more blood donations,” he said.
The airstrike, which occurred on April 11, 2026, reportedly killed over 30 people and injured many more. The Nigerian Army has justified the strike, saying it was targeting terrorists in the area.
The hospital is appealing to the public to donate blood to help save the lives of the victims. The injured include those with mild, moderate, and severe injuries, with some requiring surgery.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the strike.
The Nigerian government has yet to comment on the incident, but the army has assured that it will continue to take all necessary measures to protect civilians and eliminate terrorist threats in the region.
