The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State has reaffirmed its leadership structure with the return of Otunba Dr. Femi Soluade as State Chairman at a peaceful State Executive Congress held at the party secretariat in Abeokuta.
The congress was supervised by a national delegation led by Chief Moshood Salvador and was described by party leaders as a smooth and constitutionally guided process. It also comes amid a reported parallel meeting held by a rival faction at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), which the party has rejected.
Party officials said the congress recorded a strong turnout of accredited delegates from all 20 local government areas, adding that all procedures followed strict internal electoral guidelines to ensure fairness and discipline.
Soluade, who returned unopposed as chairman, will lead a new executive committee that includes Prince Babatunde Adedeji as Deputy State Chairman and Hon. Agbebiyi Olusoji as State Secretary. The new leadership was sworn in by the State Legal Adviser, Barrister Femi Aina.
The party dismissed the OOPL gathering as illegal and without recognition, describing it as unconstitutional and not in line with ADC guidelines. It maintained that there is only one legitimate leadership structure of the party in Ogun State.
Despite the disagreement, the party called for unity among members and urged aggrieved persons to return and work together for the growth of the party.
In his acceptance speech, Soluade said his return was a call to service, stressing that the party is focused on rebuilding and strengthening its structure across the state.
He said the ADC is not about titles or ceremonies, but about hard work, discipline, and mobilization for the future.
Soluade also promised to promote internal democracy and focus on policies that support food security, economic empowerment, infrastructure development, and youth and women inclusion.
With the successful congress, the ADC says it is now better positioned to strengthen its base and prepare for future political challenges in Ogun State.
