The Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a special enforcement operation tagged “Operation Guduma” to tackle the use of fake diplomatic number plates, overloading and other dangerous road practices across the state.
The statement announcing the operation was signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Sector Command, Superintendent Route Commander Odunsi Afolabi.
The operation, which began on May 18, 2026, will run until May 22, 2026, along major highways and strategic corridors in Ogun State.
According to the Command, the exercise is being carried out in compliance with directives from the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja.
The operation is being supervised by Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) JO Asaolu, who was assigned by the Corps Marshal to oversee the intervention, in collaboration with the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.
The FRSC said the operation is aimed at reducing road crashes, improving road safety and ensuring compliance with vehicle registration and identification regulations.
The Command explained that “Operation Guduma” is specifically targeted at eliminating the use of fake diplomatic number plates and addressing the problem of overloading and unsafe haulage practices, which often contribute to fatal road accidents.
The FRSC stated that enforcement teams would monitor and prosecute motorists involved in offences such as the use of fake diplomatic plates, overloading of passengers and goods, dangerous mix-loading of passengers and goods in the same vehicle, and movement of unlatched containers without proper safety locks.
Speaking on the exercise, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists, transport operators, fleet managers and other road users in Ogun State to obey traffic regulations during and after the operation.
He stressed that the Command has zero tolerance for traffic violations that put lives and property at risk, adding that the safety of road users remains a top priority for the Corps.
Ogunjobi also assured residents that the operation would be conducted professionally and in line with FRSC operational guidelines.
