The growing political influence of the founder of the Yayi Progressive Movement, Armstrong Tope Akintunde, came to the fore following the successful inauguration of the group at Ake Palace on Sunday, May 3rd.
Rev. Olusola Salau, Director of Ogo Titun for PBAT and a key figure in the Prince Dapo Abiodun and Yayi 2027 Movement, while reacting to the event, described Akintunde as a strong force in grassroots mobilisation, citing the massive turnout as evidence of his impact.
He noted that Akintunde has played a significant role within the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly in advancing the political movement of Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), adding that his contributions will remain notable in Ogun State’s political history.
Rev. Salau also used the opportunity to call on Senator Adeola to recognise his own role as a major stakeholder, stressing that he has mobilised thousands of supporters across Ogun State for the ambitions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and the Yayi 2027 governorship project.
He disclosed that despite efforts by some individuals to hinder attendance at the inauguration, the event recorded huge success, which he attributed to divine intervention and favourable weather conditions.
Highlighting Akintunde’s contributions, Rev. Salau described him as a vibrant young leader whose financial support and provision of 27 campaign buses have strengthened political mobilisation in Ogun East.
He added that Ikenne Local Government, Remo Federal Constituency, and Ogun East Senatorial District are privileged to have him.
He further assured that Ogo Titun and the United Coalition for PDA, PBAT, and Yayi 2027 would continue to collaborate with Akintunde to deliver victory for Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition, Prince Dapo Abiodun’s senatorial bid, and President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Rev. Salau also revealed that Akintunde will serve as the chief sponsor of a marathon race in support of Prince Dapo Abiodun’s senatorial ambition, scheduled for May 23, 2026.
