A group of women under the platform known as LADO Special Women has declared its full support for Hon. Ladi Adebutu ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
The group made this known during a meeting held in Abeokuta, stating that their decision followed wide consultations and careful consideration of the political landscape in the state. According to them, their endorsement is driven by a shared belief in good leadership and sustainable development.
Chairperson of the group, Mrs. Abimbola Kudehinbu, who addressed journalists after the meeting at Park Inn, Kuto, explained that the gathering was aimed at strengthening mobilisation efforts across the state.
She described Adebutu as a leader with a clear vision and a strong passion for the progress of Ogun State, noting that he has consistently demonstrated commitment to the growth and wellbeing of his people over the years.
“Adebutu is a true son of the soil who understands the needs of the people at the grassroots level. This quality clearly distinguishes him among other contenders,” she said.
The group emphasized that its support is not based on political party affiliation but on competence, credibility, and the ability to deliver impactful leadership.
Mrs. Kudehinbu added that the endorsement reflects a collective agreement among women professionals from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about development.
She further praised Adebutu for his longstanding interest in women’s development and his support for initiatives that uplift women and families. According to her, his commitment to the empowerment of the girl child is particularly commendable and vital to building a better society.
The group expressed confidence that, if elected governor in 2027, Adebutu would promote inclusive governance and create opportunities for women to actively contribute to leadership and decision-making processes.
They also pledged to mobilise support for him across the 20 local government areas of the state, assuring that they would engage communities and raise awareness about his leadership qualities.
In response, Hon. Ladi Adebutu expressed deep appreciation to the LADO Special Women for their endorsement and for believing in his gubernatorial ambition.
He assured them that, if elected governor, women would not be neglected in his administration, emphasizing his commitment to inclusive governance.
Adebutu further revealed that, by the grace of God, his running mate in the 2027 governorship election would be a woman, adding that he is already on the lookout for a capable and qualified candidate.
He also urged the women to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and encouraged them to mobilise their families and associates to do the same, stressing the importance of active participation in the electoral process.
According to him, this would empower citizens to elect leaders who can move Ogun State forward and deliver meaningful development.
Adebutu reminded the group that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains the platform for his ambition, urging them to remain committed and united in their support.
The meeting ended with a renewed call by the group for stakeholders across the state to support credible candidates with the interest of the people at heart, stressing that Ogun State deserves purposeful and inclusive leadership.
