United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, has arrested Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, a 53-year-old Nigerian, in Los Angeles over alleged sexual offences. The agency said he is now in custody pending removal proceedings.
ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, ERO, unit in Los Angeles carried out the arrest on Monday, April 21, 2026. The agency confirmed the development in a statement posted on its official social media handle.
According to ICE, Olusanjo has previous arrests for child molestation, sexual battery and soliciting lewd conduct. The agency described him as a “criminal alien and convicted sex offender” and said he will remain in detention until deportation is finalized.
“Los Angeles ERO arrested Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, 53, of Nigeria, Apr. 21,” the ICE statement read. “Olusanjo has previous arrests for child molestation, sexual battery and soliciting lewd conduct. He is in ICE custody pending removal.”
The arrest is part of ongoing operations by US authorities targeting foreign nationals with prior criminal convictions. ICE said its priority remains the apprehension of non-citizens who pose a threat to public safety.
In recent years, several Nigerians have been arrested and prosecuted in the United States for offences ranging from cybercrime to violent and sexual-related charges. US officials say cooperation between federal and local law enforcement has intensified to track repeat offenders.
In February 2026, the US Department of Homeland Security, DHS, announced the arrest of 79 Nigerians described as among the “worst of the worst” criminal offenders. Those suspects faced allegations including sexual assault, fraud, manslaughter, cocaine smuggling, kidnapping, and robbery.
ICE did not disclose Olusanjo’s immigration status or how long he had been residing in the United States. The agency said additional details would be provided through appropriate legal channels as the deportation case proceeds.
As of Friday, Olusanjo remained in ICE custody in Los Angeles. Under US immigration law, non-citizens with aggravated felony convictions, including sexual offences involving minors, are subject to mandatory detention and removal with limited appeal rights.
