The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Command has called for stronger support from traditional rulers to improve road safety in the state.
The Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Alake of Egbaland, Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III, at his palace in Abeokuta on April 24, 2026.
Ogunjobi, who visited with senior officers, said the FRSC remains committed to reducing road crashes and improving traffic management across Ogun State. He also delivered greetings from the Corps Marshal.
During the meeting, the FRSC boss outlined areas where the agency seeks support from traditional institutions.
These include public awareness campaigns on road safety, community involvement in enforcing traffic rules, and protection for vulnerable road users such as school children and the elderly.
He also stressed the importance of using the influence of traditional rulers to encourage people to obey traffic laws and report violations.
According to him, traditional leaders play an important role in promoting safety on the roads and helping to save lives.
In his response, Oba Gbadebo praised the FRSC for its efforts in protecting road users. He called for closer cooperation between security agencies and traditional institutions to improve safety in communities.
The visit is part of FRSC’s efforts to engage key stakeholders in reducing road accidents and ensuring safer roads across the state.
