African Democratic Congress chieftain Buba Galadima has said President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 election under any circumstances, including against an unlikely opponent.
Speaking on Tuesday at the party’s convention in Abuja, Galadima delivered a sharp rebuke of the ruling All Progressives Congress. He accused the APC of adopting tactics aimed at destabilising opposition parties ahead of the next election cycle.
“I want to remind them that even if there is no living human being in Nigeria, and we bring a corpse in a coffin and put him against President Tinubu, I assure you the corpse will win the election in 2027,” he told delegates to loud applause.
He alleged that the APC-led government had made deliberate attempts to weaken major opposition platforms. He specifically named the PDP, SDP, NNPP, Labour Party, and the ADC as targets of those efforts.
“I want to touch on one important point: we have seen that the APC and its government have tried to destroy the PDP, SDP, NNPP, Labour Party, and the ADC,” Galadima said. He described the moves as part of a broader pattern of political intimidation.
The ADC chieftain urged party members to remain steadfast and resist pressure. He warned that any attempt to intimidate or frustrate the party must be met with defiance. According to him, only the party’s resolve, resilience, and courage will deliver Nigerians from what he described as the “mafioso in government.””
Galadima pointed to the successful hosting of the convention as evidence of the ADC’s independence. He said the event went ahead despite alleged interference and attempts to block opposition activities.
He maintained that the ADC would not allow anyone in the country to dictate political behaviour or suppress democratic participation.
The convention drew party leaders, state chairmen, and delegates from across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT.
Discussions focused on party structure, coalition talks, and early mobilisation strategies for 2027. The gathering comes as opposition parties begin alignments and consultations in preparation for the next general elections.
Galadima, a long-time political figure and former ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, has been a consistent critic of the APC administration since leaving the party.
His latest comments add to a series of heated exchanges between the ruling party and opposition groups over the political climate. The APC has not officially responded to Galadima’s remarks as of press time.
