The General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, on Sunday, cautioned Christians against preachers he described as deceptive, stating that eloquence without scriptural substance does not produce spiritual transformation.
Muoka spoke during the grand finale of the church’s annual Easter retreat crusade, themed “God’s Covenant of Peace and Blessing,” held at the Revival Ground International Headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos. He told worshippers that God remains faithful to His covenant and does not fail in His promises.
Citing a testimony shared at the crusade, the cleric said a woman who had faced prolonged struggles and contemplated suicide found no change under what he called a false prophet’s rhetoric. He stated that her life was transformed after she joined The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement.
“My Master Jesus did not speak grammar. Apostle Peter did not speak grammar, but the undiluted word of God, which is what we preach,” Muoka said. He noted that some contemporary preachers, though versed in prayer, lack a message centred on salvation.
The General Overseer maintained that congregations rooted in deception do not produce genuine conversions. He said The Lord’s Chosen prioritises the teaching of scripture, referencing the biblical injunction to seek first the kingdom of God, after which all other things shall be added.
Addressing public perceptions of the church’s membership, Muoka rejected assertions that members are impoverished. He said many congregants are financially successful but adopt modest lifestyles consistent with their values. He added that some members contribute to societal causes and church projects in billions of naira.
According to him, the absence of ostentation among members reflects deliberate adherence to faith-based principles rather than economic status. He attributed criticism of the church’s testimonies to what he termed limited spiritual understanding by commentators.
Muoka called on Christians to pursue complete spiritual transformation, stating that partial conversion is inconsistent with biblical teaching. “There is nothing like half-transformation. It is either you are born again or not,” he said, urging believers to reflect Christian conduct in both private and public spheres.
The cleric expressed confidence that participants at the crusade would experience tangible changes in their lives. He said the expected transformation would serve as evidence of divine intervention.
