The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two security guards in connection with the gruesome murder of a traveler identified as Promise in Ibafo area of Ogun State.
The suspects, Isikilu Dauda, a 55-year-old, and Rasaki Abbas, were apprehended by detectives attached to the Ibafo Divisional Headquarters following a credible tip-off from a concerned resident.
According to the police Spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, April 10, 2026, at about 7:00 a.m. Detectives who swiftly responded to the alert found the victim severely injured and rushed him to a nearby hospital.
Babaseyi, said while being conveyed for medical treatment, the victim reportedly identified himself and disclosed that he had been attacked with machetes by security guards after arriving in the area late the previous night. He was, however, confirmed dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
Babaseyi disclosed “The body has since been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, for a post-mortem examination.
“Preliminary investigations revealed a trail of blood leading from the scene of the attack to one of the suspects, aiding his arrest.
“Further efforts by the police led to the capture of the second suspect, while a manhunt has been launched for other accomplices who are currently at large.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines.
