The Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, has commended the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), the Nigeria Agriculture Cooperative Organization (NACO), and other farmers’ associations for their significant contributions to agricultural development in the state.
Owotomo gave the commendation on Saturday, April 4, during the commissioning of the Ogun State International Airport, the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway, and the distribution of tractors in Iperu by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He described NACO and AFAN as committed agricultural bodies playing vital roles in enhancing food security across Ogun State.
Speaking further, the commissioner appreciated the organizations for their sustained support to farmers and their efforts in boosting agricultural productivity. He urged members of NACO and AFAN to remain united and continue working collaboratively towards greater achievements.
Owotomo also assured farmers that the state government would soon convene a meeting with NACO, AFAN, and leaders of various farmers’ associations. According to him, the meeting will serve as a platform to discuss the distribution of tractors, with all farmer groups expected to benefit from the initiative.
In response, the farmers expressed gratitude to the commissioner for his dedication to advancing agriculture in the state.
They also acknowledged the positive impact of the policies of Governor Dapo Abiodun on farmers and prayed for continued strength and wisdom for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Commissioner Bolu Owotomo in driving further progress in the agricultural sector.
