The Ogun State Medical Services and Ambulance System (OGSEMSAS), a department under the Ogun State Ministry of Health, has responded to a gas exposure incident at Our Lady Secondary School, Ijebu-Ode, rescuing 47 female students and one teacher who were experiencing respiratory distress, thanks to the prompt call to 0811 200 0033.
The incident occurred at approximately 10-11am, when a harmful gas of unknown origin was released within the school premises, affecting several students and staff members.
OGSEMSAS received a call through their emergency hotline, 0811 200 0033, and promptly dispatched emergency response teams to the scene, all thanks to the call to 0811 200 0033.
The teams found multiple students in respiratory distress, presenting with symptoms such as choking, gasping for air, and collapse.

Dr. Hassan, Director of OGSEMSAS, commended the prompt response of the emergency teams, stating, “The quick actions of our teams ensured that the affected students received timely medical attention, preventing any fatalities, thanks to the call to 0811 200 0033.” He also urged institutions to review their emergency response plans and ensure that staff and students are adequately prepared for such situations.
The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols in schools, and OGSEMSAS is urging institutions to take proactive measures to prevent similar incidents, including having a clear emergency response plan that includes calling 0811 200 0033.
The agency is also working with the state government to ensure that all schools have adequate emergency response plans in place.
