The Ogun State Police Command has scored a major victory in its fight against cultism and other threats to public peace, arresting 14 suspected cult members during a daring midnight operation across Isara, Ipara, and Ode communities.
The operation was carried out at 1:20 a.m. on January 24, 2026, was based on intel that members of the Eiye Confraternity were gathering to initiate new recruits and plot disruptions.
A joint team of police operatives swooped in, arresting 13 men and 1 woman, and seizing an arsenal of guns, ammunition, cult paraphernalia, and vehicles.
Those nabbed include Solomon Shobamiwo (aka “Solo Hot”), Farooq Ogunsola, and 12 others. Police recovered 3 locally-made pistols, 11 live cartridges, 4 rounds of 9mm Beretta ammo, and 19 phones, among other items.
The suspects were arrested in a coordinated sweep of the area, with support from officers of the Ipara and Isara Divisions. Several others reportedly fled the scene.
Ogun State Police Commissioner CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D., condemned cultism and warned that the command won’t tolerate lawlessness. “We won’t relent in ridding Ogun State of cult-related activities,” he said.
CP Ogunlowo urged youths across the state to renounce cultism and criminal associations, emphasizing that such activities pose a serious threat to public safety and social order.
The police promise sustained operations to ensure peace and security in the state. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities via emergency lines, including the Gateway Shield toll-free line on 0800 000 9111.
The latest operation underscores the police’s determination to tackle criminal networks proactively and maintain law and order across Ogun State.
