The NYCN Ogun West Youth Summit, scheduled for August 21, 2025, promises to bring a fresh perspective to addressing the region’s development challenges.
During a pre-summit press conference on 11th June 2025 at Oba Isiyemi Hall, Olota of Ota Palace, Ota, Ogun State, Chairman of the Youth Summit Committee, Azeem Salako, unveiled the theme: “Breaking the Cycle: The Youth Perspective in Addressing Sociocultural Obstacles and Historical Grievances to Achieve Equity for Ogun West.”
Salako emphasized that the summit aims to investigate the issue of political marginalization in a new way, exploring concrete solutions to the region’s longstanding problems.
The event will take place at the Raheem Oloyo (Glass House) conference, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ilaro, Ogun State, featuring Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Akinbiyi Ojo, SAN, and Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, Rector of OGITECH, IGBESA, as lead speakers, alongside five panel discussants representing each local government in Ogun West, including Hon. Naphew Abimbola (Imeko/Afon Local Government), Alhaji AbdulJabar Ayelaagbe (Yewa South Local Government), Princess Feyikemi Banuso Lawrence (Ado-Odo/Ota LG), BARR. Ojelade Busola (Yewa North), and Hon. Mautin Oluwatosin Gbenasu (Ipokia Local Govt.).
NYCN Ogun West Vice Chairman, Comr. Kehinde Olorunjubelo KDO, highlighted the summit’s alignment with economic empowerment initiatives designed to train hundreds of youth and equip them with tools and equipment.
Stakeholders at the pre-summit conference praised the committee’s choice of theme and discussants, agreeing that the event will provide a valuable platform for young people to share ideas, discuss issues, and develop solutions that could lead to meaningful change and development in the region.
