OGUN STATE POLICE INTERCEPT GROUP OF YOUNG INDIVIDUALS WITH DANGEROUS WEAPONS
The Ogun State Police Command has intercepted a group of 20 young individuals of unknown origin near the Ogun-Oyo boundary. The group was seen alighting from a truck, and upon questioning, they failed to provide a clear destination or satisfactory explanation for their movement.
Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, who was on a routine weekend patrol, ordered a search of their persons and belongings. The search yielded dangerous weapons, including daggers, knives, cutlasses, and suspected charms.
Following the discovery, CP Ogunlowo directed the immediate detention of the individuals and ordered the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to conduct thorough profiling. He further instructed that anyone found culpable should be swiftly charged in court to ensure justice is served.
The Ogun State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to proactive policing and community engagement. CP Ogunlowo assured residents of Ogun State that the Command will continue to intensify efforts in crime prevention, intelligence gathering, and prompt law enforcement responses.
The police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police formation for timely intervention. The Ogun State Police Command remains dedicated to safeguarding lives and property, and it will not relent in its duty to rid the state of criminal elements.
The Command’s proactive approach to policing has been evident in recent times. For instance, the Ogun State Police Command had released an updated list of telephone numbers for Police Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to provide residents with direct lines to key law enforcement officials ¹.
