The Nigeria Cassava Growers Association (NCGA) has dissolved its Ogun State chapter executives and appointed a caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the association in the state. This decision was made known in a letter dated November 18, 2024, addressed to the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ogun State.
The caretaker committee, which will be in charge until new executives are elected, comprises Alhaji Akeem Busari as Chairman, Mr. Ramoni Ademuyiwa as Secretary, Mrs. Mary as Treasurer, and Alhaji Lateef Bello as Public Relations Officer. The National President of NCGA, Dr. Mustapha Othman Bakano, signed the letter and assured the commissioner of the association’s cooperation.
The dissolution of the Ogun State chapter executives and the appointment of a caretaker committee is a strategic move to reposition the association for better performance and service delivery to its members in the state. The NCGA has been working to increase cassava production in Nigeria, and this move is expected to boost the association’s efforts in achieving this goal.
In his address, Alhaji Akeem Busari, the caretaker chairman, expressed his gratitude to the National Executive Council of NCGA for the responsibility and appreciated the outgoing executives for their efforts in promoting cassava growers’ interests in Ogun State. He outlined the committee’s focus areas, including strengthening the association, promoting sustainable cassava production, enhancing market access, and building strategic partnerships.
Busari urged all stakeholders to join him in achieving these objectives, aiming to build a stronger, more resilient, and prosperous cassava industry in Ogun State. The appointment of the caretaker committee is seen as a positive step towards achieving this goal and enhancing the overall performance of the NCGA in the state.
