A shocking arrest has been made in Ogun State, as a suspected ritualist, Taiwo Yemitan, was taken into custody by the Ogun State Police Command. The 45-year-old suspect was found in possession of a fresh human head and dismembered body parts of a female victim in Lafenwa area of Abeokuta ¹.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, the suspect was arrested at 1:40 a.m. on Sunday in his home behind Atinsola petrol station, Sanni in Abeokuta. The police acted on a tip-off from the state local security outfits, the Agbekoya and the vigilante operatives, before making the arrest.
The suspect confessed to knowing the deceased, identified as Darasimi, whom he lured to his residence with the intent to kill her. He also named two other individuals, Kehinde Yemitan and one Kazeem, as accomplices in the criminal act.
The police spokesperson revealed that the suspect’s intention was to sell the victim’s head and other body parts. The dismembered body has been taken to the general hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta morgue for post-mortem examination.
Efforts are currently underway to arrest the accomplices and locate the victim’s relatives. The suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta for a thorough investigation.
