Abeokuta, November 23, 2024 – The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a woman who allegedly fought and killed a 65-year-old woman, Morenike Oladega, in the Ipokia area of the state.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the incident was reported by one Ibrahim Oladega, a resident of Isunba Street, Ipokia, at about 6:20 p.m. on November 21.
Odutola stated that the deceased had an argument with the suspect earlier in the day, around 4:20 p.m., which escalated into a fight. During the fight, the deceased was pushed, causing her to hit her head against a wall and collapse.
The police spokesperson explained that upon receiving the report, detectives were dispatched to the scene, where they found the victim lying on her back. A photograph was taken, and her body was transported to the General Hospital in Ipokia, where she was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal and Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation. The police are currently searching for the suspect, who has since taken to her heels.
The police command has assured the public that efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect and bring her to justice. The command has also called on anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and assist the police.
