The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) welcomed its 12th State Commandant, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, during a change of command ceremony held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the State Headquarters in Owu Dekudu Village, Abeokuta.

In her inaugural address, Commandant Ekundayo expressed gratitude to the outgoing Commandant, Assistant Commandant General (ACG) David Idowu Ojelabi, PhD, mni, fspsp, praising his dedication, discipline, and commitment to service that significantly contributed to Ogun State’s development strides.
Ekundayo emphasized her commitment to upholding the Corps’ core tenets, highlighting that being an officer goes beyond wearing the uniform – it’s about genuine service to the people and adhering to operational guidelines.
She assured that the Corps, under her leadership, will prioritize protecting critical national assets and ensuring citizens’ safety, while collaborating closely with other security agencies to maintain a secure and crime-free Ogun State.
Prior to the ceremony, ACG Ojelabi and Commandant Ekundayo jointly inaugurated a new tactical operational base at the Abeokuta Interchange. The facility, constructed by Mr. Ifeanyi Imuseh, owner of V-Peg Energy and Gas, aims to enhance security monitoring in the area and surrounding communities.
ACG Ojelabi urged officers to maximize the base’s potential, extending security reach to neighboring communities. Commandant Ekundayo prayed for God’s guidance and protection for the project initiator and users.
Ekundayo stressed the importance of effective collaboration between the Corps and local communities to maintain security and ensure the project’s success.
The ceremony concluded with Ekundayo reaffirming her dedication to building upon her predecessor’s progress and enhancing Ogun State’s security landscape. With her leadership, the NSCDC is poised to strengthen its commitment to protecting the state and its citizens.
