A 15-year-old senior secondary school student, Emmanuella Monday, has accused her biological mother, Mrs. Eunice Asulie, of taking her to different men for prostitution. Emmanuella alleged that her mother took her to Beeland Hotel in Ovwian, Delta State, where she was handed over to a man identified as Aboki.
According to Emmanuella, she managed to escape from the hotel room before any harm was done. She reported the incident to her school’s proprietress, Mrs. Magareth Oghuvwu, who contacted human rights activist Comrade Ighorhiowunu Aghogho.
Comrade Aghogho has forwarded a letter to the Delta State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission to protect Emmanuella from further exploitation. The incident violates Emmanuella’s right to parental care and protection under the Child Rights Act 2003, Section 14.
Emmanuella’s ordeal began when her mother allegedly took her to different men for prostitution. This is not the first time her mother has tried to force her into prostitution, Emmanuella claimed.
The Delta State police command spokesperson, DSP Edafe Bright, advised Emmanuella to report to the nearest police station. The case is currently under investigation, with Inspector Esther Obukowho as the Investigating Police Officer.
The Delta State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, Mrs. Angela Agbame, confirmed receipt of the letter and promised action. Human rights activist Comrade Aghogho is seeking court orders for police protection and custody.
Emmanuella is currently in the care of her school proprietress, Mrs. Magareth Oghuvwu. The outcome of this case will be closely monitored to ensure that justice is served.
The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for justice and protection for Emmanuella. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any cases of child exploitation.
