Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Professor Badejo Ayodeji Olawunmi as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).
The appointment was announced on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
Badejo, a Professor of Guidance and Counselling, takes over from Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor has ended.
Olatunji-Bello subsequently retired from office following the completion of her tenure.
Born on August 4, 1962, the new Vice-Chancellor obtained her PhD and Master of Education degrees in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos.
The state government said the appointment was aimed at ensuring continuity in the leadership and administration of the university.
Badejo is expected to assume leadership of LASU as the institution begins a new administrative phase following the conclusion of Olatunji-Bello’s tenure.
