The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has intensified its crackdown on the alleged vandalism of public infrastructure, arresting 10 suspects in separate operations across Abuja.
The suspects were apprehended in Kubwa, Wuye and around the National Mosque area, with police authorities recovering armoured cables and a vandalised solar-powered street light.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the Command, a patrol team from the Kubwa Division encountered five suspects on September 2, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m., while allegedly vandalising armoured cables around Bazango-Kubwa.
The suspects were identified as Goodname Oriarebun, 29; Timothy Donald, 28; Ayo Buli, 26; Emmanuel Elijah, 28; and Christian David, 28.
In a separate operation, officers from the Wuye Division arrested Moses Luka, who was allegedly found digging out armoured cables along the road between Magic Land and the National Stadium.
Four other suspects—Musa Abdullahi, Suleiman Idris, Aliyu Isa and Muhammed Abdulrahman—were arrested by a surveillance team from the Wuse Division around the National Mosque.
Police said the four suspects were allegedly cutting down a solar-powered street light and attempting to remove its components.
The Command said the operations formed part of efforts to protect public infrastructure from criminal networks, adding that investigations were ongoing to track down other members of the alleged syndicates and suspected receivers of stolen infrastructure.
All 10 suspects remain in police custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded, the Command said.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, praised the officers involved for their vigilance and urged residents to support efforts to safeguard public assets by reporting suspicious activities to the police.
